Universitas Ciputra (my earlier uni)

Hi, now I wanna share you about something unique about myself. as you know, I'm studying Interior Design at Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) Karawaci.. but, I'd been studied at Universitas Ciputra (UC) Surabaya before I moved to UPH.

first, why I choose UC? the answer is really simple, it's just because I'd already bored at Petra (my former school) and UC have a interesting tag line "Creating World Class Entrepreneurs." sounds WOW! to me..hehehe.

At UC, I took major Architecture Interior and I like studied there, I had made many friends.. I got many tips and tricks from my lecture, esp. Ir. Soekandi who teach subject "Drawing 01". I learned so much from him.. and from my adviser lecture, Ong Harry Gunawan S.T.
I remember when first time I entered his class, he taught us "how to hold a pencil?"  hahaha...I was laughing with some of my friends, but then I realized that's a basic skill to a good drawing.. I also still remember about his quotes "The key to a good design: understand your clients.".

I have funny stories when I entered 2D & 3D class by Drs. Bambang Irawan. its kinda crazy class that i ever had.. I got kicked out from class!  hahaha..

I know, some of my lectures at UC despise me..well because at that time I still looks like a Senior High School student who like to play, race, and anything stupid activities. but, I changed "adagio".. :D
like a pupa becoming a butterfly, it's not easy and simple, but its has to!

Studio Desain / Studio Studies III

I take this subject in August 2009; and it has 9 credits, so if I got a bad mark, it will absolutely affect to my IPK.. oh, I got Dipl.-Des. Paulus S. Whanarahardja as my major lecture and Eva Maude Darmawan S.Sn as my adviser lecture.
I learned about how to design a home..a dwell to someone.

My Client are brothers. both of them are Male and they're really like to be at home.
after I'd been interviewing them, I got their data.. like what they're doing at home, what is his favorite things, his collections,  etc. and then, I started to mind mapping, to dig what's exactly do they need.. Mind mapping is very important, because from there you could finally get a concept and the style of your later on design.

Finally, I found my concept to his home was Enlightenment and Tadao Ando and Takashi Sugimoto as my architect and interior references.
so in their home, there will be a crescent form as central area, which is that area is a medium for anything vital to be done.. This is an open space house, and that crescent area is surrounded by a small pool, it's used as heat recall and air circulation for the overall space.
and the other form of the house is following that basic shapes.. also about the stairs (upstairs), type of the stairs is buckle, and it's engirdle that crescent form.
about the lighting, i maximize the use of natural lighting.. i tried to manipulate the sun light into my project like Tadao Ando, the Architect of Light.





and for this subject -by grace alone- I got an A-. it's so gladdened me!
but the worse thing is my portfolios in Studio Studies III were disappear.. I was so angry and sad at that time.. I think, I should make it once again when I've a free time! and now that's not a big deal for me :D

Why I choose Architecture Interior as my major..

When I was a little boy, I used to get private drawing class with some of my friends. We're hire a drawing teacher and He taught us how to draw.. We drew landscape, cartoon models, or anything that elementary students usually get to be drawn. like this funny pict....

 But, I ain't interested at all with this course (because I can't draw as good as my teacher yet I could pass the competency)..so I quit after about three months taking that lesson. and my design life had just happy-go-lucky till I entered Junior High School in SMP Kr. Petra 3.


In there, I was begin to like my own drawing, because my drawing teacher taught us to draw a spatial 3D form of course with perspective point(s). and the peak, I realized that drawing is my talent, and I dreamed that I'm going to enter a design school at University. that dream comes when my teacher introduced a way to draw city with three (3) point perspective. just like this picts..

cool isnt it? i like those picts very much... oh, and about my own 3 point perspective drawing.. I lost it. It's a very long time ago, it's about eight years ago! :D but I clearly remember what did I draw.. City with a Railway Station! complete with the details. lol


well, staring from there I began to exercise my own drawing and sketches. in Senior High School, i was taught a drawing method called Orthogonal Projection Drawing and its stuffs..

and then till now, in University... I studying Interior Design in Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH).. I've learn so much, and I've know so much too. but, I'll keep learning and doing, because this is my dream.my memories
okay, well.. that's a brief history of my design life... :D Why I choose? It's because I found it!
